Five things I know now that wish I knew the…
Isn’t it funny how we all at some point in our lives, wish we could just go back in time?... Lately I don’t know why but I’ve been thinking about it a lot, I feel somehow a few things could have been done better, but then the more I think about it I think that maybe if I didn’t experience all the things I did that perhaps I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
Today I’m obviously an adult but I consider myself a very hard working, respectful, loving and caring human being. All my Experiences made me who I am today and I’m proud of that, couldn’t be happier… In saying that! if there was a time machine that gave me the opportunity to go back in time I would totally take up the opportunity & give the younger version of me some valuable advice.
Here are Five things I know now that I wish I knew then.
Haters don’t hate you. In fact, they hate themselves because you’re a reflection of what they wish to be! God I wish I could tell you this face to face, I want to tell you that every girl that made fun of you all the way through high school only ever did so because of their jealousy towards you. High school’s tough but so are you! Stop running twice a day & stop eating nothing else but salad every day so that you can meet their expectations…
Trust me it’s not you its them and no matter what you do to try and change that they will always find a way to Break you… You care too much so try not to. Ignore what they say, live your life.
You are allowed to outgrow people. The friendships you have are built purely on being in the same high school, you spend most of your time with them and eventually the people you saw everyday will seem like they have disappeared from your life. It’ll upset you but your goals are different to theirs and you no longer have anything else in common. As time passes you will soon realise that in life friendships fade and people grow apart every day. Instead See this as an opportunity to remove all the toxic people from your life. At the end of the day what counts is quality and not quantity.
The problem isn’t with your body, the problem is what you think of it… & what you think of yourself. You allow others to have a say in how you feel but how about you try to love yourself for who you are instead. Don’t try to change your body and please don’t go ahead with that stupid liposuction procedure you’re 21 years old and there’s nothing and I mean nothing wrong with your body. I’m now 34 and when I look back at photographs I think what the hell was I thinking?... Your body is definitely not the problem the problem is you, you need to learn to love & accept yourself for who you are. Despite all the things that you think may be terribly wrong with you, love yourself, love yourself…. Tattoo it on your brain!
Speak your mind even if your voice shakes. You will be 23 years old and by this stage you will have enough of everything and everyone. You will hurt a lot of people with everything you have to say, so speak your mind, be honest & be sure to taste your words before you spit them out.
Time is non-refundable so use it with intention.. This one is one you should seriously consider because you have always been in a hurry, a hurry to accomplish everything and when I say everything I mean you’re always in a rush to get things done. Your list is full every day and perhaps you should instead choose to create space in your life for the things you love to do more. Take one step at a time, ensure you stay in the moment. Take time to breathe and just be. Be intentional about how you spend your time. Life is busy and we all know that but also know that life has space too so grab that space and create wonderful memories.
Obviously back then I did the best I could with what I knew; now that I know better sometimes I wish I could go back and help the younger version of me, so that things didn’t look or seem as bad as what they were.
